How do you motivate students to perform in your biology courses? When MindTap counts for at least 20% of their grade, biology students are increasing their level of engagement and improving their success in the class.
Digital learning tools matter to today’s students. According to a recent report, 74% of surveyed college students feel they would perform better if their instructors would use more technology.
Recent analysis of MindTap usage for all disciplines across the 2014-2015 academic year demonstrates that using MindTap can have a significant and positive impact on student learning and outcomes.
If you make MindTap count in your course… you and your students will see better results. When MindTap assignments count for at least 20% of their grade, students spend 50% more time in the platform. Biology students who use MindTap every week are more likely to get an 80% average or higher compared to students who only log in every other week. And, those who use MindTap for at least three hours each week are twice as likely to earn a 90% or above on their assignments.
We’ve also observed that, when faculty uses MindTap, students use it, too. Biology instructors who spend eight or more hours managing their course through the semester (whether by modifying or adding content, monitoring student progress, or communicating with students) get students to spend nearly an hour more per week working in the course.
MindTap also helps to develop and reinforce good study skills. Biology students who use MindTap’s app perform better on their assignments; for example, those who use the Flashcards app more than ten times per term are more likely to earn a 90% average or above.
