Cengage Career Online High School to Support Workforce Training Initiative in Appalachia

Cengage’s Career Online High School will soon be available to workers and students impacted by the changing coal economy in Appalachia, thanks to a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission. The $100,000 competitive grant was awarded to Jobs for the Future, a national nonprofit that builds educational and economic opportunity for underserved populations in the U.S. Cengage is partnering with JFF to implement the grant. Career Online High School Program Free for All Walmart Associates We’re thrilled to announce that Cengage Learning has partnered with Walmart to offer accredited high school diplomas and credentialed career certificates through Career Online High School (COHS). Part of Walmart’s Lifelong Learning program, COHS is designed to reengage adults in education and is free for Walmart associates beginning on the first day of their employment. This week, it was our pleasure to announce our partnership with Excelsior College to create a low-cost, alternative way for students to earn college credit. This very special partnership surrounds a set of self-paced digital courses using Cengage Learning content, each with integrated diagnostic and formative assessments. The courses end with a college credit bearing exam developed by Excelsior’s Center for Educational Measurement, among the most respected higher education assessment organizations.
