Among the many hats you wear as an educator, you’ll probably find one labelled “mentor.” Perhaps it’s a relatively small hat: spending a few moments, here and there, to offer a bit of guidance to a student that needs some direction. Or, maybe it’s a larger (and more formal) hat: you are a supervisor, mentor, or advisor to students matriculating through your department or program. Either way, you regularly play an important role in the academic and professional development of numerous students each term.
