Digital learning tools have been shown to improve students’ learning comprehension as well as final outcomes. But the benefits fall on the instructor side of the spectrum as well.
Digital tools, platforms, and resources often have built-in functionality for simple and insightful grading. There are options for all teaching types, even those who prefer to grade everything “by hand.” Digital tools like Cengage Learning’s MindTap allow instructors to see patterns in students’ learning by providing deep analysis.
MindTap is a personal learning environment that contains activities (readings, assignments, apps, etc.) that instructors and students need in a course. You can customize MindTap by adding or editing activities in the Dashboard or within readings (inline activities.) MindTap can also include homework and assessments from other Cengage products.
Digital learning tools help you to better assess your classroom success by providing the dynamic student insight you may be missing.
Easily spot the students who are struggling as well as those not being challenged enough. Instantly uncover which questions students struggled with the most. Discover if the content of the most-missed questions was covered when attendance was low or if you may have spent too little time on it.
And, of course, most students enjoy the simplistic transparency that comes with being able to check their grades online anytime they want to. It also gives them a heads up if they start falling behind. Students who find themselves struggling know to hit the flash cards–conveniently included–or even take a few extra practice quizzes to bring them back up to speed quickly.
Scores and gradebooks
You can send a student’s scores from MindTap to a Learning Management System Gradebook and use them along with scores on other student work (Examples: projects, papers) to help calculate a student’s grade.
Instructors can get help from a Cengage ITS representative to set up grade synchronization, adding scoreable Activities to the institution’s LMS Gradebook automatically.
The Progress App enables instructors to track student scores on homework and assessments taken in MindTap. Instructors can access Progress from the App Dock.
Select the Progress App icon from the App Dock. The Gradebook tab displays when you open Progress. You can filter by overall performance, by points or percentages–whatever works best for you and your students.
